Access control is used to determine who is allowed to enter which parts of a building. It consists of a control panel, proximity readers, card readers, keypads and electric or magnetic locks. Fingerprint scanners can also be used in conjunction with a keypad. Access is granted through authorization of a persons user credentials. Either a code, card or key fob. Finger print scanners can also be used to grant a user access.

It can also send out alerts when there is unauthorized access attempts or the system is being tampered with.
