Access control is used to determine who is allowed to enter which parts of a building. It consists of a control panel, proximity readers, card readers, keypads and electric or magnetic locks. Fingerprint scanners can also be used in conjunction with a keypad. Access is granted through authorization of a persons user credentials. Either a code, card or key fob. Finger print scanners can also be used to grant a user access. 

Access control is used to minimize the risk of unauthorized access to a building or area of a building. It keeps track of who is coming and going. It can also send out alerts when there is unauthorized access attempts or the system is being tampered with. The access control systems can be integrated with other security systems such as cameras and alarms for added security and monitoring.
